Positions & Openings
First, thank you for your interest in Nakama and the possibility of volunteering. Many different people and their skills and talents keep Nakama running smoothly. We wouldn't be here without our circle of friends. If an opening is available and you feel you're qualified, don't hesitate to apply. Just click on the "Learn More!" link for more details and information on the application process for each individual position.
However, keep in mind that Nakama has a staff policy. Full-time positions require that you are not currently working for another scanlation group, freelance or otherwise. If you work for another group, or are freelancing and are not keen on committing to one group, but are still interested in helping Nakama out, in rare instances we may be able to take you on as a part-timer. But this is rare.
Cleaner || Positions: Closed until further notice
Cleaners, as their position name implies, "clean" the original, untouched Japanese scans before they are passed along to the Editors. Cleaning is a graphics-related position and requires that you are comfortable with Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, or any other comparable graphics program.

Editor || Positions: 1 position available
Editors are the next step in the graphical transformation process. Editors work with the cleaned scans taking care of tasks like the removing and cloning of SFX and type-setting. Editing is a graphics-related position and requires that you are comfortable with Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, or any other comparable graphics program.

Quality Checker (QCer) / Proofer || Positions: closed until further notice
QCers/Proofers are responsible for reviewing projects pre-release. This is a detail-oriented position as QCers are responsible for spotting improper grammar, spelling mistakes, comestic errors, etc. This seems to be one of the most popular positions, with the perk of previewing releases.

Scanner || Positions: Closed Until Further Notice
Scanners are pretty self-explanitory. Scanners are responsible for taking the original hard copies of Japanese or Chinese manga and scanning them. In most cases, these would be high-quality scans used for the editing, translation and release process. Nakama ALWAYS uses scans scanned by our full-time scanners, part-time scanners, or friends. We do not believe in using unknown scans.

Translator - Japanese || Positions: 2 available positions
This position is responsible for translating manga from Japanese to English. This is by far the position most in need of volunteers. Not all, but some of our projects contain furigana - so if you are comfortable with furi only, we could still use your help.

Translator - Japanese SFX || Positions: Closed until further notice
Japanese SFX translators are responsible for translating sound effects only. Unlike the standard Japanese translator position, proficiency in Japanese or advanced Japanese, while a definite plus, is not required. This is a newly created position for Nakama.
